10/10 Novel Reflections

I think what I want to do is a satirical twitter page that would tweet like Donald Trump but only with proven facts. I want to create a profile and mirror his syntax, but instead of fake news and opinions, each tweet would be an accurate version of one of his tweets (i.e. if he tweeted that COVID was done, my tweet would mirror how he said COVID was over, but instead it would relay true facts about COVID). I am still figuring out how I want to go about it, if I want to quote a tweet of his or let people figure out which tweet I am “mocking,” but I plan on creating an account and having multiple tweets by Monday  10/18. I have briefly looked at other Trump parody accounts and they mainly seem to add on to his idiocy by tweeting even more ridiculous thoughts, rather than bring it back to an equilibrium.

  1. I liked your earlier idea also, but this one seems particularly compelling. What do you think is the learning goal or general objective of your project? It seems interesting to balance incorrigible mendacious style with truth-telling: the idea seems to have interesting potential to explore whether Twitter style leads to untruths or not.

    1. I think the ridiculousness of some of Trump’s tweets/claims are softened by his tweeting style, where adjectives are a main focus (“bad,” “sad,” etc) rather than the subject. If I can take the same subjects but reverse the adjectives an incorporate facts, perhaps it can mirror what it’s like to be influenced by a Trump tweet, except this time positively.

  2. I really like this idea. Maybe you can ask, is the lack of facticity itself a part of the power to influence? Or can facts be conveyed in the same ridiculous style?
